Challenge

Transdev Australia and New Zealand required a review of its IT function to assess the adequacy of its structure, services available, and support mechanisms in place. This review was part of a whole of business review that identified gaps or weaknesses in the IT services scope, organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities of the IT staff, and ensure services agreements are in place and understood. The main objective was to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to enhance the IT function's structure, services, and support mechanisms.

This foundational information fed into identifying priority areas requiring attention and used for planning and potential remediation and risk acceptance.

Solution

Australian Sentinel adapted our Discovery and Risk Assessment process to produce the findings output as described below. More than 50 structured interviews were conducted with a mix of business stakeholders and IT staff as well as over 100 documents reviewed. Analysis became complicated as most interviewees were made available in the 2nd half of the engagement and many documents were provided either later in the engagement or after the cut-off points for input. The project risk was Accepted with the treatment being that quality output will be “good enough” rather than extend duration and cost.
